Permit Requirements 

A permit is required when an owner or contractor who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure. A permit is also required in order to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert, or replace any electrical, gas, or mechanical system. 

Completed permit forms can be submitted to permits@jeffersontownky.gov.

Note:  This email is for permit/plan submittals only.  Please contact the office with any questions.

Work that would require a building permit:
  • Modification of building footprint (garage, addition, deck, pool)
  • Modification of load bearing members (roof, floor, walls, beams)

Electrical Resources

Work that would require an electrical permit: 
  • Extending circuit wiring or adding panel or breaker
  • Installing receptacles, switches or fixtures where they didn't exist before.
  • Power Restoration
Work that would not require an electrical permit: 
  • Replacing receptacles switch or light where it existed before
  • Replacing breaker
Work that would require HVAC permit:
  • Exhaust systems
  • Fireplace
  • Mechanical refrigeration
  • New HVAC equipment

  • Range hoods
  • Replacing existing HVAC equipment/system.
  • Ventilation equipment
