The Jeffersontown Public Works Department employs 21
full-time positions with additional "community
service" workers and is divided into the following five
primary crews for daily maintenance:
1. Storm water Drainage Maintenance and Construction
- This crew maintains all drainage ditches, easements and
retention ponds that belong to
the City. They are also responsible for road
repair, sidewalk and curb replacement, catch basin
and inlet/outlet
headwall repair.
2. Parks and Landscape - This crew is responsible for
maintenance and mowing of all City owned property. Their
daily
duties include mowing, trimming, tree and shrub maintenance,
and mulching and leaf removal.
3. Mowing - This crew is responsible for mowing all easements
and islands in the City, and cleaning and sweeping all City
streets. During the off-season, these employees merge into
other crews.
4. Street Sign Maintenance - This crew is responsible for all
City street
signs, posts, roadway signs, and road markings.
5. Litter - This crew patrols the City for litter daily
throughout all streets and right-of-ways.
The Department is equipped for storm response with chippers,
chainsaws and a city owned bucket-truck.
The Jeffersontown Public Works Department provides
setup/cleanup and preparation for all City and Chamber
sponsored events such as the Gaslight Festival, Holiday
on Gaslight Square, Spruce-Up Jeffersontown,
Pumpkin Fest, Easter Fest and Little League and High
School Tournament Parades.
The entire Public Works Department is responsible for
snow removal with 14 fully outfitted snow trucks along with a
full fleet of equipment - backhoes, bulldozers, grade
tractors, skid steerloaders, etc.
The Jeffersontown Public Works Department works very hard to
maintain a safe and clean City of which we can all feel
proud.

Dear Bucky,
Just a note to say "Thank You" for the beautiful
repair on my driveway. It has been a problem for a long
time. Also a "Thank You" to the men who worked
very hard.
I have lived here for 32 years and love
Jeffersontown
.
Sincerely,
Clara Hermanson
Greetings John:
Jim and I would like to thank you for all the time and effort
you extended to correct the drainage problem we had. We
especially appreciated your honesty,
integrity and persistence in assessing the problem and taking
the necessary steps to see it through
completion even when others tried to persuade you otherwise.
It was an honor to work things out with you and we appreciated
the
personal attention you gave to our situation.
